Three months ago, our wedding got postponed because of Hurricane Irma. I was extremely upset, and my husband decided to take the plunge and get us both Annual Passes at Universal Studios Orlando. We have WORN out the parks since then, and we have been continuing to visit them weekly. Here are our personal picks for the best to worst rides at Universal Studios' Islands of Adventure in sunny Orlando, Florida.
1. The Incredible Hulk Coaster
Yes, this is a rollercoaster, but there isn't any crazy drops and it's not as fast as many of the other coasters in the area. It is family friendly, the wait times aren't ever too long because around 24 people can go on each cart. Plus, there is free lockers to put all your belongings while riding!
2. Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey
First of all, it is in HOGWARTS! I personally love Harry Potter so I am totally into this ride. You "fly" through and around the castle with Harry and Ron on a "bench". Watch out though, because Hagrid lost the dragon. Again.
Shoutout to all fellow Ravenclaws!
3. Flight of the Hippogriff
This is a small rollercoaster located right next to Hogwarts. It's short for the wait, and is mostly for children, but the view of Hogsmeade from the top is AWESOME and is worth every second of the ride. After, don't be afraid to get a cup of Butterbeer or indulge in some sweets at Honeydukes!
P.S: Nod your head to Buckbeak unless you want to end up like Draco Malfoy, and always stay away from the Bertie Botts.
4. The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man
The first row of the cart is definitely the best because you can see all the small details. You'll ride around New York on this 4-D ride with your "coworkers" at the Daily Bugle.
Fun Fact: Stan Lee can be seen 4 times!
5. Hogwarts Express
This is only included in a 2 park ticket because it brings to to the other park, but even with a wait it will definitely be quicker than walking. Enjoy your ride back to London, make sure you check our Diagon Alley!
6. Popeye & Bluto's Bilge-Rat Barges:
You. Will. Get. Soaked. There is no way around it; however, it really is fun but unless you want to be wet and possibly freezing I wouldn't risk it.
7. Doctor Doom's Fearfall
This ride is SCARY and FUN at the same time. If the wait isn't too long I would definitely check it out. You're completely strapped in, so it feels safer than something like Tower of Terror. You'll get shot straight up into the Orlando skies and gradually make your way back down to Marvel Superhero Island.
8. Skull Island: Reign of Kong
The wait times for this ride are honestly crazy, but it is almost brand new. Unless you have express or the wait is less than 20 minutes I wouldn't wait. It's another 4-D ride where you'll encounter some pretty risky business, but Kong's got our backs. It's fun, but not worth waiting too long.
9. The Cat in the Hat
This is a fun little ride that anyone can enjoy, the set up is sort of like The Little Mermaid at Disney World. If you or your children are fans of this classic book and movie, I would definitely check it out.
10. The High in the Sky Seuss Trolley Train Ride
Parents and children alike can enjoy this short ride above Seuss Landing. The wait time is usually low and it allows you to see the parks from another angle. I personally enjoy it because it gives you a few minutes to rest without being a party pooper.
Like Honeydukes in the Wizarding World, the candy at the exit of this attraction is YUM!
11. Jurassic Park River Adventure
This ride is fun, but like the other water rides you will probably get wet. The last few months, the ride has had a 5 minute wait, which is worth it, especially in the middle of the summer! Watch out for dinosaurs!
12. Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls
I personally don't like this ride at all. The wait times are LONG and I hate big drops on water rides. I do have a few friends and family members that love this ride though. Try it for yourself and then make your own decisions but I would recommend possibly bringing a change of clothes.
